Re: Layer splitting with ABS

In my own short experience with ABS I also noticed that I had to print at very high temperatures (255 °C for a material rated for 230-240 °C), and no print cooling, good enclosure with 15+ minutes pre-heating, and very slow print speeds around 30 mm/s. Oh, and ridiculously high bed temperatures. Eve...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

To be honest, no one tests his stuff these days... I have one of the most expensive gaming mice you can buy. Haven't been able to install the driver since 3 or 4 updates, and there are no solutions to the problem. My OS is clean and tidy, I know my way around PC administration quite well.. (but that...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

There was a non-descriptive announcement about a week ago (just a few posts above). I wonder how they support their "industrial-class results" claim. Imho that is pure marketing bs because if you've ever seen an industrial-class 3D print (for example Shapeways' "Strong & Flexible&...

Re: Need A 3D Model? I Can Help You Design It!!

Well, since the printers for stainless steel that Shapeways uses don't have much in common with our reprap machines - probably never going to happen outside of a professional environment (power draw alone is more than household sockets can deliver).

(by the way, off topic here..)

Re: J-Head not working.

I don't know the specifics of the J-head. Check the instructions about what to do with that paste... I suppose the retraction distance is much too high. When you retract, you pull up the hot plastic into the "cold" part of the hotend, which is not desirable. Maybe just try 2-3 mm setting. ...

Re: Need A 3D Model? I Can Help You Design It!!

Hi Lez0 I was talking about STP, which is not quite the same as STL. SW's STP models usually fail to import complex curved faces correctly in SpaceClaim, which is specialised in working with STP models from other sources. Most people use SpaceClaim for model cleanup and fixing errors before going to...

Re: Folding 3D printer.

I love the instructions provided!! So many nice details there (like the power supply cover. Totally stealing that idea...) I personally wouldn't build one since I'm used to having a fully enclosed build area. Wouldn't give that up any more.. I started a design some time ago that would fit into a mil...

Re: J-Head not working.

It could be that your filament is heated too far "up" into the hotend, which makes it jam. The rings tha show up about 20mm (guessed) from the nozzle in your pictures show that the filament was soft at the point where the PTFE tube ends and the metal channel begins. As far as I know, that ...

Hi Moccasin and welcome to the forum!

Which Slicer are you using?
Can you show us a picture of that printed part? Would help a lot in telling what the problem might be ;)

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

China has never really cared about open source, or "rules" in general. They have their own understanding of economy:
Words like "patented" or "protected" don't really mean anything over there.

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Lots of stuff to do here... I've been really busy these days and will continue to be for some time.
I've taken up my FPGA 3D printer controller design again, but I'm still not sure if it will ever see the light of day. So much new stuff going on lately...
