Re: Suddenly my SD card isn't read by my printer

Check all you cables, with the FT-5 my cable was wrong and it would just read as empty or not at all.

Re: Paul's FT-5 Build

great to hear about the homing :) but weird. for the binding, you can try to completely loosen/remove the top attached parts of the leadscrews , the side rods supply guidance for the bed, and the leadscrew only needs to be connected at the bottom. that solved it for me. most if not all leadscrews ha...

Re: Paul's FT-5 Build

Did yours to that on first power up/testing too? Mine homed correctly in first try, but I hear of builders having the same issue, but it is not a big problem, just adjust the firmware, and upload again :) I have more issues with layer shifts that won't go away, that others have no problem with ;-) ...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Lazy question...with only a mesh-file available (e.g. STL)...how can one turn it into a solid that you can, kind of, modify? I have tried to find ways to do it in Fusion360 but so far I have not been able to do it. If the model is not too complex, I would make some slices and redraw the shape, ther...

Re: Paul's FT-5 Build

If the print head moves to the oposite side then where the switch is, you need to adjust the X firmware from + to - or otherway around :)

only if you have done a successful homing, then you can move all the X-Y-Z positions, otherwise the printer thinks the axis is already at it's limit and wont move.

Re: Pancake? Stepper? Or go Bowden setup?

I could not get it to work properly (2.85mm), it kept slipping on the first layer, and was just too weak to handle large filament volumes when using the Vulcano nozzle.
I went back to the normal Nema17 motor, and it works great :)

Re: Rubbing on travel move

I use Z-hop a lot, it helps to keep fragile parts from being bumped by the nozzle,
I still have some flow trouble/adjustments to do, and some filament is extruded more then I want to, this gives some bumps on the surface.

it only extends the printing time by a small margin.

Re: E3D Titan / v6 Aero Upgrade

Looks good, I'm also happy with mine, less wobble in the head because it is a lot shorter.

Be careful with the extra small bearing you had to insert into the alu part, I already lost mine (don't ask), as it is not tight in the hole, luckily the old plastic cover had exact the same bearing :)

Re: How much should a good 3D printer cost?

Getting into that $2000 - $3000 price range, then most will probably buy an Ultimaker, building a good printer is not the biggest deal, but keeping it going day, after day, after day is more of a challenge :) That is where Ultimaker excels. You would need to make a printer that has something special...

Re: Has anyone used nGen_FLEX yet?

I used 80c for the bed with 3Dlac spray and it kept it stuck,
I did not print big parts just some tests with their samples.

Yeah, I also use a 4mm Borosilicate Glass plate, it's very flat and great to print on with some 3dLac.

Looking nice :)
most have just flipped the heated bed around, less wiring, and no problem it dropping on the Z-stage belts

It could be faulty wiring, did you check it ?
