Re: Suddenly getting hairy stringy prints

Coming back to this....still getting a lot of thin hairs on my stock nozzle (removed prototype ruby) with Ultimaker brand filament. Would this be a symptom of needing to check my coupler or something? Did some atomic pulls and it's all clean and nicely shaped in there.

Re: Paul's FT-5 Build

More small progress.... It's been a really long road with this printer and I really haven't gotten to the part of doing anything big yet! As frustrating as it is, at least some progress is being made. First was the Y idler upgrade. This replaces the cheap bearings that had held in place with plastic...

Re: First impressions....

Mirror is hard to work with, I find. The reflection makes it a challenge to spot how good the first layer is going!

I doused mine with the diluted wood glue and that worked good. I tried the hairspray method too but found it to be no better.

Re: Ugh

Oh man, I dread ever getting something that awful I had really good results on the included glass, using the Elmers Wood glue and diluting it in a container of water (10 parts water, 1 part wood glue). Brush on and heat bed to dry. The only reason I went to LokBuild was I got some lifting on one of ...

Re: What's good with higher temps and won't warp like crazy?

I don't see where Ultimaker sells their own PETG and I see ColorFabb has some in both Economy sized and standard.

The shrinkage still has me concerned but I may wind up buying a spool or two and seeing how it goes

Re: First impressions....

My bed wasn't too bad, so I still have the stock glass one. I did at a sheet of LokBuild to mine but I would give some caution about it... It causes prints to adhere extremely well. So, if you have a print that needs that, it will do well. (My large, curved pieces that tend to lift should work great...

On one of your print gcodes, what do the first couple of lines look like? Is the cut/paste you showed here showing in the gcode for the file, too?

Re: I couldn't resist and bought one...

I feel your pain, out of the box all "looks" good, as most of the reviews show. But if you are more advanced user like Samurai i, he's pointed out how his calibration cube was off and esteps on the extruder needed work And you can't save settings via the LCD/control box, so you're better off just ad...
