I've checked with a multimeter and both thermistors are between 6 & 8 ohms at room temperature. I hope that sounds right it's been years since i've done this kind of thing. I've checked the power connections and the plugs. What was strange was that the problem went away when I changed the boards but came back. I appreciate it sounds like a loose connection or broken cable but I can't see anything wrong.

Please does anybody have any ideas or could even assist me in setting up a different controller????
