Re: Suddenly my SD card isn't read by my printer

I wonder how many people have dumped their cards because of this?

As I said, just create a new folder on the card, move the gcode files from the root into it, then continue to save them as usual until the limit is reached again, when you create another folder and repeat the process.

Re: UM2 Custom Settings List

Thank you both for that info. I was not aware that this list existed in text form, or that it could be saved by UM2 on SD card. I will investigate...

Re: UM2 Custom Settings List

I don't know what that is. I am talking about the Material/Settings page on the UM2 display. This starts with PLA and ABS, followed by a number of Custom settings entered by the user. After Custom14, it is not possible to add any more, so I want to either modify earlier ones, or delete some of them ...

UM2 Custom Settings List

There seems to be a limit on the number of entries that can be added to this list. Anyone know how to delete/edit entries?

Re: Suddenly my SD card isn't read by my printer

I had this problem too, some while ago. It is almost certain that you have reached the limit in the number of files that can read by UM2 in a folder on the card. I think I remember I found the limit was 128. The solution is to use the PC to create a new folder, and name it something like 'OldModelFi...

Re: Anyone tried Proto-Pasta HTPLA Carbon Fibre V2.0?

I have found with CF that although you can print at the lower end of the print range like a lot of materials they can lack interlayer bonding. It's finding the sweet spot where you get the interlayer bonding, which is towards the upper end of the range, I'd try the upper end and see what that is li...

Re: Anyone tried Proto-Pasta HTPLA Carbon Fibre V2.0?

Hi Izzy, Well, here's the result of my first print using the new material. It is part of the latest version of the filament-release device that I have designed for my UM2 stock feeder, and the outcome is very disappointing. Firstly, it would not stick to the glass using the Bostik Big Blue gluestick...

Anyone tried Proto-Pasta HTPLA Carbon Fibre V2.0?

Read about it here I have a 5metre sample on my desk here to try, and wondered if anyone had anything to say about it before I commit it all to an important test print. If it works as it should, then my ABS-only days may be numbered. It promises higher working temperature and very much stiffer part...

Re: Block v3 or Olsson Block

I've had it in mind to go plastic on this one for some time, because the principle works so well, and others may like to do the mod who do not have access to a CNC milling machine. So, over the last couple of days I have prototyped this - http://www.vitalsparks.com/images/P1040296a2.JPG It still nee...

Re: Heated bed adhesion

Hi Izzy, Ah-Yes, the (In)famous Hindhead Tunnel, that monstrous yet very impressive earthworks that suddenly appeared in what can best be described as the middle of no-where. OK, all the locals knew about it, obviously, but for the rest of who don't update their sat-navs every 20 milliseconds, it cr...

Re: Block v3 or Olsson Block

Would you be willing to share that release-lever design?
Yes, I intend to do that eventually, but at the moment it is not 3D printable - I made it from aluminium.

Re: Block v3 or Olsson Block

I've never tried printing in ABS since I am wary of the fumes and known challenges it presents. I have my printers in my study/workshop with me all the time, almost exclusively printing in ABS, and on an almost daily basis. I have never been aware of any fumes or smell, although I have read several...

Re: Block v3 or Olsson Block

I've been leery of the application of any lubricants on the filament for my Ultimaker 2's. Yes, I was too at first, but I read of many users that do it on a variety of machines, so some time ago I gave it a try. They used very light oil, like typewriter oil, but I thought that was a bit dodgy at AB...

Re: Block v3 or Olsson Block

I have been using the Olsson block with i2K for the last few hundred hours and it performs extremely well. So I don't see any reason to be messing about spending money on an alternative. One major thing that I did however, was to stuff the volume around the block (inside the fan shroud) with glass-w...

Re: Nice! VitalSparks UM2 Mods

WOW - Fame at last! 8-) Just joined up a few days ago and poking about I came across this to my surprise - hope folks are still enjoying these little gadgets. I have loads more things to share like this, and on how I have tamed my UM2 to near perfection, especially with high-temp filament like ABS. ...
