Re: Printer missing parts

What is your layer height set to? Looks pretty high. Try 0.2 or 0.15.

Re: Print issues: stringing

You may also need to do this test on a variety of different filaments. Most basic filaments from the same brand (different colors from Hatchbox for example) will use the same or close to the same settings, but other filaments (like Hatchbox wood filament) will need very different settings. I recentl...

You are heading into uncharted territory here. Not sure who all here is even at this level of system mods.

I found this article on how to choose. Not sure it is helpful for you. You could also search on Digikey and see if you can find one that matches the specs you are looking for.

Re: Shifted Layers

First thing I would look at is loose bed or loose belt on the Y axis. I once had a print going on my 3DP-17 that started looking like that 5 layers into the print. Discovered all of the wing nuts for the bed on the table below the printer.

Re: Assembling a CR-10 - Any "gotchas" to be aware of?

I've used Blender to modify existing STL files, and OpenSCAD to design a few (look for me on Thingiverse). I tend to stick to the open (i.e. free) tools. I don't spend a lot of time on this part of the hobby, and can't justify expensive software when free works just as well.

Re: Printing miniature City - Is this feasible

I'm sure it can handle it, just haven't heard of someone doing what you describe. Nozzle wise, I think it can handle the larger nozzles as they are all the same thread. I have a variety pack with the largest being 1mm (stock is .4mm), but haven't tried any of them yet. The CR10 series printers aren'...

Re: Creality 10s pro

If I remember correctly, the printer just shows up as a serial port. Check to see that you have a new serial port when you plug in the printer. Then tell your program to use that port. Alternatively, get a Raspberry Pi (they're very cheap) and install Octopi on it. Safer anyway as with Windows, it c...

Re: Cura 3.6.0

I'm on an Intel NUC 6i5SYB with an i5-6260U 1.8Ghz processor, 32G memory, and 480G SSD. Both of my printers (one on either side) are attached to RPI3's running Octopi. I have them both setup in Cura (which complains with every update saying the configuration data is corrupt - ignore and carry on). W...

Re: Cura 3.6.0

Must be a Windows issue, as I just tested 3.6 & 4.0 beta full screen on a 3 monitor setup running Ubuntu 18.04. Went full on one monitor with menus just fine. I agree with the real estate assessment. Having that big toolbar on the top instead of on the side is not good, especially given 99% of print...

@Roberts_Clif What OS are you running? I'll see if I can reproduce this on one of my dual monitor systems.

Re: Cura 3.6.0

@Roberts_Clif You need to make the Print Speed settings visible in the Preferences. From there, you can change the actual values. On my 3DP-17, it defaults to 60mm/s. I haven't honestly done any speed tests, or really much of anything with my 3DP-17 in several months.

Re: USB bottlenecks with OctoPrint?

Sounds reasonable. If you really want fast prints & octoprint, have octoprint download the gcode to the printer SD (very slow), then start from there. You lose most of your tracking, but ....

Are you buying 24V rated heaters? That could explain why you are burning through so many.

Re: Power Supply Smoked

Probably just a few blown caps. I've seen that happen. Back in the Pentium III days, there was a cap vendor in China that had a year of bad quality output. Thousands of motherboards and power supplies died that year.
