Re: Z-axix linear bearings
Just a quick update on my use of the Japanese LM12 bearings for the Z axis. Disassembled machine as required to complete the installation, cleaned and lubed the 12mm rods, carefully dropped the new bearings on, they felt a little tight, and almost notchy, but as per usual with a good fitting LM bear...

Re: Z-axix linear bearings
Been having problems with my UMO and UM2 intermitent banding. Lots of investigating, often putting it down to the cross rod gantry bearings. Changed them with cheap chinese bearings, no difference. More recently a blown UM2 heatbed, and known ever so slightly notchy bearing on UMO Z axis, prompted m...

Johan,
Contact me and we can identify what the issues were. I suspect some firmware settings (or lack of them) might have caused difficullties.

Re: The Flex3Drive
So for people coming to this topic, and perhaps wondering the heritage in the Flex3Drive design. There is far more to it than meets the eye. My own background is automotive design and engineering. I got into 3D printing for a design project and got somewhat distracted improving the machine, this was...

Re: The Flex3Drive
Awesome manual written by Korneel for installation of the Flex3Drive onto UM2. Anyone who has written comprehensive documenation knows what a laborious and studious task this can be. Docs are not my fortay. I know there were a couple of last minute tweaks after my sign off. Tensioner bolt stop rest ...

Re: Pros and Cons of 1.75mm vs 3.0mm filament
No it wont have to do with the sizes available, supply meets demand, people switch to 1.75 and so demand increases hence they are more prevalent. There is likely a slight advantage given it will melt quicker than 3mm for a given length, but it is less volume being melted. 1.75 can be fiddly, easy to...

Re: Pros and Cons of 1.75mm vs 3.0mm filament
I will do my best to explain in my afflicted ways :) There is a view by some that 1.75 is "easier" to push through than 3mm. Some schools of thought support this by suggesting that because the extruder has to turn a greater number of turns for a given volume of filament, it is easier to pu...
