Re: Glass bed question

See my post about the inductive Z sensor. You can get it to work by inverting it on the gantry and having it detect the smooth rod on the X axis. Works great once you find where to mount the Z sensor on the vertical gantry support.

Re: Firmware Marlin-1.1.0-RC6 - now running

Hi Chip, I have your firmware running fairly well now, but one problem I can't seem to change. When I run the stock firmware, the Z Axis is fine. But when I load your firmware, the Z-axis is too high by several mm, probably 3 or 4. Changing the inductive Z-sensor doesn't seem to matter-the Z-home se...

Z-axis sensor issue solution

Hi there! If anyone is having issues with the inductive Z-axis sensor, I have a good solution for the issue of a glass plate on the bed. Instead of using the sensor to detect the bed, use it to detect the X-axis bottom smooth rod. I removed the sensor from the mount and used electrical tape to attac...

Printing issue

Hi all, Having some trouble here with getting a good quality print. I printed on a HICTOP 3DP17 using Cura. My firmware is the 398 version sent to me by HICTOP, as I had some trouble with Chip's firmware that I haven't yet worked out entirely. Anyhow, I tried to print a 3D truck model and despite th...

Re: Firmware Marlin-1.1.0-RC6 - now running

Sorry, my bad. I meant the extruder. I think it is a hardware failure, likely the sensor, as it is intermittent.

Re: Firmware Marlin-1.1.0-RC6 - now running

Chip, I uploaded your firmware and everything seems to be running fine, but when the bed begins to heat, it gets near to 220 and stops, saying "Heating Failed". Any ideas?

Re: HIC i3 - current firmware development information

It's ok, I followed your directions to install Marlin-but it didn't work that well for me, so I reinstalled the Marlin version here someone posted that HICTech sent them for my 3DP17. Is your Marlin version for the 3dP17 or will it work on it?

Re: Mendel inductive sensor z-probe

What is the benefit of the inductive sensor anyway? The mechanical sensor seems to do exactly the same thing, but without the problems...any reason we need the inductive one?

Re: Mendel inductive sensor z-probe

I found a problem as well...I carved a good chunk out of my heated bed plate trying to get that sensor to work. What I found out was that the mount is too high above the extruder head. I SAYS 8 mm but if you check, it's more like 4 mm to trigger the sensor. I took the sensor off and mounted it lower...

Re: Power supply issue

Found the issue-the labels on the connectors were printed wrong. Took a chance and reversed the polarity (put +'ve to -'ve) and it worked fine now.

Re: HIC i3 - current firmware development information

Is there any way of downloading the HEX file for the latest stable Marlin version for an HIC Prusa i3 3DP-17? I don't know how to compile all of the source code, and was just going to use Cura to upload the .hex file.

Re: Power supply issue

A bit more info, when I connect the control board to the power supply, my multimeter then read 0.06 at both the power supply connector AND the control board end of the wires.
Is this, then, the PSU that has failed? Why do I get 23.9 V when the control board ISN'T connected then?

Power supply issue

Hi everyone, I built a HICTOP i3 Prusa model 3DP-17 with auto bed levelling and filament monitor and put everything together. The control board and LCD work fine when plugged into USB, but the power supply only works if I disconnect the power supply from the control board. As soon as I connect the c...
